Hamlin Peak, a 4,756-foot mountain in Baxter State Park, forms the northern spur of the Mount Katahdin massif between Baxter Peak and the Howe Peaks. Though connected to the larger Katahdin mass, it rises nearly 500 feet above the col linking it to higher Baxter Peak, giving it enough topographic prominence to qualify as a four-thousand-footer by Appalachian Mountain Club standards. It is ranked as Maine’s second-highest peak. Its southeast face drains into the Great Basin, within the watershed of the Penobscot River and Penobscot Bay. Several trails reach or pass near the summit, making it a notable high point in the park.
