This was the site of Grand Haven's original cemetery. Because citizens were concerned that the cemetery stood in the very midst of the city and that cattle grazed among the tombstones, the remains were relocated over the next 10 years to Lake Forest Cemetery. The park was dedicated to the city of Grand Haven on July 16, 1901.
