Fish Farm Mounds State Preserve is a 3-acre archaeological site in northeastern Iowa near New Albin, within the Fish Farms Mounds Wildlife Area in the Driftless Area by the Upper Mississippi River. It preserves a prehistoric mound group containing Native American burials, safeguarding a cemetery that predates the modern state of Iowa. Donated to the state by the Fish family in 1935, the land became an archaeological state preserve in 1968. Its importance as a burial site and as an archaeological link to the deep human history of the Upper Mississippi valley was further recognized when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
