Rockingham County Botanical Garden in Brentwood, New Hampshire, emerged from a 1996 proposal by University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners in Rockingham County. Over the following years, the group obtained 10 acres of county land, created a nonprofit organization, and developed the site as a botanical garden. The land was later returned to Rockingham County, and the garden is no longer identified as an operating botanical garden. The Master Gardener volunteers, however, continue the broader educational mission through programs and community projects across the state centered on gardening, plants, soil, and insects.
