Originally a private burial ground, this site later served as burial grounds for a variety of North Salem congregations. In 1806 the cemetery was deeded to the Town of North Salem as a public burial ground. In 1851 a donation of land expanded the cemetery, and a recent donation has allowed it to be open for the purchase of new plots. Interments date from 1760 to the present.
