Quick/Walters/Hall Log House
History
2
Built circa 1870 in Barkley Township by Mark Quick, this log cabin later stood on a farm bought by Thomas Walters in 1901. It originally had four additional rooms that were later separated, and the cabin was then used as a lambing shed. In 1929, Paul J. Hall, Sr., bought the farm, and the cabin was moved into a large cattle barn for feed storage. In 1967, the Hall family donated the cabin to the Jasper County Historical Society, and its logs were numbered, taken to the Fair Grounds, and reassembled, with a stone fireplace and concrete floor added.
