On September 10, 1959, children traveling to school died at the Mountain Lake Park railroad crossing. They were Janet Deem, 12; Nancy Deem, 15; Merle Harvey, 11; Nancy Harvey, 12; Richard Hindle, 11; Lee Hoffman, 11; and Shirley Lee, 12. They are remembered with grief, gratitude for the precious days shared with them, and a prayer that their families and friends may know the Lord’s peace.
