Concrete City was an early use of International Style architectural concepts in model industrial housing. Located one-quarter mile north of here, the homes were built by the D L and W Railroad's Coal Division for forty Truesdale Colliery employees and opened in 1913. Constructed of poured concrete, the twenty two-story rectangular double houses surrounded a park. The Glen Alden Coal Company controlled the site after 1921, and it was abandoned in 1924.
