The City of Shelton honors departed emergency services members who gave their lives in the line of duty while protecting the lives and property of its citizens: Shelton Fire Department member Daniel E. Wannagot in 1991, and Shelton Police Department members William E. Rich in 1964 and James J. Mattioli in 1997. The memorial was dedicated on Oct. 12, 1991, by Mayor Michael E. Pacowta.
