Ramp Covered Bridge
Science & Tech
Ramp Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge in Hopewell Township, Pennsylvania, that spans Conodoguinet Creek. Built in 1870, it is a 130-foot Burr Truss arch bridge, a design favored in the 19th century for its strength and economical timber construction. It survives as part of a small remaining group of historic covered bridges in this region, one of 17 in Adams, Cumberland, and Perry Counties. Its preservation highlights the importance of rural creek crossings as engineering landmarks and as reminders of the transportation links that connected Pennsylvania communities in the 1800s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
