At the turn of the century, farmers used this equipment in fields that are now part of Potato Creek State Park. Hay mowers cut clover and grasses to make feed for horses and cattle, and once the hay was cut, a hay rake gathered it into long rows called windrows. The hay was then loaded by hand onto wagons, and watchful visitors today may still see some signs of this land's past.
