One of the very oldest settlements in this county, this place was settled here in 1840–1850 by the Bakers, Barnetts, Booths, Couches, Deeses, Dixons, Garretts, McDonalds, McWilliams, and other pioneer families. Near this point Harvey Crowley Couch, an Arkansas distinguished citizen and industrial leader, was born.
