No-Tillage Farming
Industry
3
The first practice of no-tillage crop production in Kentucky occurred on this farm in 1962. Harry and Laurence Young, of Christian County, were among the first in the nation to experiment with no-tillage techniques, which use herbicides to provide a seed bed in residue stubble. The method conserves soil and water, saves time, labor, and fuel, and often produces higher crop yields.
