Established in the 1890's by John A. Wharton Camp, U. C. V., this cemetery served as a burial ground for Confederate veterans and their families. After its acreage increased, its use was extended to the public. Veterans of four wars, victims of the 1900 hurricane, and prominent civic leaders are buried here.
