Italian Mountain is a 13,385-foot peak in Colorado’s Elk Mountains within the Rocky Mountains, located in Gunnison National Forest east-northeast of Crested Butte. It is considered a thirteener, one of Colorado’s summits rising above 13,000 feet but below 14,000. The mountain’s name reflects its reported bands of green, white, and red, colors said to resemble the Italian tricolor.
