Thomas Andrews Hendricks was an outstanding lawyer who served in the Indiana legislature, was a delegate to the Second Constitutional Convention in 1850-1851, was an Indiana Congressman from 1851 to 1855, a United States Senator from 1863 to 1869, Governor of Indiana from 1873 to 1877, and Vice-President of the United States in 1885.
