White Rock is the highest point on a seven-mile Taconic ridgeline at the tri-state corner of New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont, linking Petersburgh, Williamstown, and Pownal. Rather than a solitary peak, it forms part of a ridge with several named knobs, including White Rocks, Smith Hill, and Bald Mountain. A notable feature is the Snow Hole, a crevasse where snow can last well into summer. The ridge combines meadow, woodland, and broad views over the Hoosic and Hudson valleys. Crossed by the thirty-five-mile Taconic Crest Trail, it is an important high-country route, with watersheds draining toward the Hoosic, Little Hoosic, and Hudson rivers.
