During the war in Southeast Asia from 1961-1975, Air Force aviators, support staff, Army Special Forces, and Marine observers lost their lives while flying or supporting the forward air controller mission. A requiem honors these forward air controllers as men who served their country, faced the enemy alone, answered calls for help, and gave their lives so others would live. It also names the fallen, including Medal of Honor recipients Captain Stephen L Bennett and Captain Hilliard A Wilbanks, along with many others remembered for their courage.
