Reeds Peak Lookout Tower stands at Squeaky Spring in the Gila National Forest on Reeds Peak in New Mexico as one of the forest lookouts built to watch for wildfire across the surrounding mountains. Constructed in 1929, it consists of a 48-foot Aermotor steel tower with a small 7-by-7-foot steel cab at the top. Its original cabin was replaced in 1959, and stairs were added in 1965 while the original ladder still remained in place in 1988. In 1988, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its role in the region's fire-detection history.
