Orinda School was designated a historic landmark by the City of Orinda on December 13, 1988, under Ordinance Number 88-13. Orinda Grammar School was built in 1939 under the Federal Works Agency Public Works Administration, with John M. Carmody serving as Federal Works Administrator and Franklin D. Roosevelt as President of the United States.
