Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins was the primary artist for the Apollo 11 patch. Its design features an American Bald Eagle representing the lunar module and the United States. The eagle clutches an olive branch to signify the peaceful intentions of the astronauts. The astronauts intentionally left off their own names so the patch would represent everyone who contributed to the project.
