Galusha Grow was known as the Father of the Homestead Act, which opened western lands to free settlement in 1862. He served as Speaker of the House from 1861 to 1863, returned to Congress from 1893 to 1903, was educated at Franklin Academy in Harford, and is buried in this cemetery.
