Plumas County veterans who gave their lives in the Korean War, World War II, and the Vietnam War are remembered for their sacrifice. Those from Plumas County who died in World War II are honored for fighting for the freedom of America and the free world, for justice and peace, with the inner strength and courage to defeat the enemy, in keeping with the words, “Uncommon valor was a common virtue.” Plumas County Vietnam veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice are remembered as young men who answered their nation’s call, served, and gave their lives for their country, and their loss is presented as a reminder to future generations that freedom is not free and that the sacrifices of past generations must be remembered.
