Industry
1
In 1855, this wheel was used at Joseph Kelly’s feed, flour, and sawmill at the original dam one block west at Jackson Street. In 1875, the mill closed, and the wheel was laid on the bank of the river for years. From 1897 to 1947, the Marten Brothers blacksmiths used the wheel to shrink wagon-wheel tires. From 1950 to 1975, the wheel was in Allen Andres Patio. In November 1975, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Andres donated it to the City Improvement Association.
