West of this site lies the grave of a Union soldier killed in a skirmish with Confederate soldiers at Bayou Goula on January 25, 1865. He is believed to have been Private David Ingraham of the Third Rhode Island Calvary, Company H. Mrs. Florestine Lambremont Richard gave him a Christian burial under an oak tree at the rear of the Lambremont Plantation. He was twenty years old.
