A Universalist congregation gathered in 1852, and its church was dedicated on October 18, 1868. It was erected on land donated by Jinks Morey, a Universalist and founder of Morey's Corners, now Lyons, Ohio. The building was renovated and rededicated on December 4, 1904, and it is the oldest Royalton Township non-residential structure remaining on its original site.
