Dr. Harry M. Wegeforth founded and served as president of the Zoological Society of San Diego, and through his wide vision and untiring labor secured a zoological collection and planted a garden so that people could learn the wonders of created life through beasts of the soil, birds of the air, and life of the sea. The San Diego Zoological Garden stood as the living monument to his ideals, faith, and courage.
