John Harris, founder of Mifflintown, was born in 1723 in Donegal, Ireland, and died in 1794 in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania. He donated the plot on which the courthouse stands, and he also donated the Presbyterian Cemetery to the town, where he and his wife Jane are buried.
