This land is the traditional territory of the Seneca-Cayuga of Oklahoma. Land acknowledgements insert an awareness of Indigenous presence and land rights into everyday life, often at the beginning of ceremonies, lectures, and education guides. They can be an explicit but limited way to recognize the history of colonialism and First Nations as well as a need for change in settler-colonial societies.
