The First Baptist Church in Piedmont, Alabama, first known as Piedmont Baptist Church, was organized in 1870. Its first building was a white frame structure at 202 Daily Street, and in 1905 the congregation moved to a new building at the corner of North Main and W. Ladiga Streets. An adjoining two-story frame building was erected in 1935, followed by a brick sanctuary in 1948, the north two-story brick building in 1952, and the south three-story educational building in 1960. A steeple, given by Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Knight, was added in 1970. The church's outstanding missionary accomplishment was sponsoring a mission, Roberts' Chapel.
