Willow Springs was a stage station on the Los Angeles-Havilah Stage Lines from 1864 to 1874. From there, light traffic went through Oak Creek Pass by way of Tehachapi to Havilah and Kernville, while heavy traffic went northwest to the Inyo mines or by way of Jawbone Canyon to the South Fork of the Kern, and from there to the Kern mines.
