The T-33 was a familiar sight at McChord for almost 40 years, flying lastly with the 318th FIS until its retirement on 04 February 1988. It was used for instrument training, certification or requalification of pilots, simulated targets for interceptor training, and aggressor duties for air defense radar sites. By retirement, the 318th's nine T-33s had each been flown more than 10,000 hours. T-33A S/N 58-2106, the last "T-Bird" built for the U.S. Air Force, completed its last flight on 24 July 1986.
