Ashland Harbor Breakwater Light is an operational lighthouse in Chequamegon Bay on Lake Superior near Ashland, Wisconsin. Also called Ashland Breakwater Lighthouse, it stands at the outer end of a long detached breakwater that creates an artificial harbor, placing the light on the water where it can guide approaching traffic. Part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and managed by the National Park Service, the station includes living quarters within the lighthouse and separate keeper’s quarters and a boathouse built in 1916 about 2 miles away. Together these features reflect the practical demands of maintaining a Lake Superior navigational aid.
