White and Company's Goose Lake Stoneware Manufactury was a mid-19th-century industrial complex near Morris, Illinois, where stoneware and tile were produced from 1855 to 1866. Among the earliest large-scale stoneware works in Illinois, it was established near Goose Lake because the area offered abundant clay, the essential raw material. A settlement called Jugtown developed beside the works to house employees and had 114 residents by 1860. The site now survives mainly as an archaeological landscape, with kiln furniture and waster sherds among the most visible remains, preserving evidence of the factory's production and its role in an early industry based on local natural resources.
