The Atchafalaya region has a rich and mysterious landscape filled with twisting bayous, rivers, and America’s largest river swamp. Its lands include fields of sugar cane and cotton, ancient live oaks, and towering cypress. Alligators, raccoons, and bears roam there, while 270 species of birds fill its skies. Its waters provide catfish, shrimp, oysters, and crawfish. The weather varies throughout the year and even throughout the day.
