LaGrange County was organized on May 14, A.D. 1832. Jacob Vandevanter, Edmund Littlefield, and Arthur Barrows were the first commissioners, and Joshua T. Hobbs was the first clerk. The county seat was located at Lima in A.D. 1832 and removed to LaGrange in A.D. 1844. The first term of court was held on Oct. 22nd, A.D. 1832. The corner stone was laid with public ceremony on Aug. 15th, A.D. 1878.
