Founded by Mr. Fred Long in 1901 as the Kash Savin Stor, the business moved in 1909 to the Sixth and Meade building constructed in 1904 by E.W.R. Taylor and was renamed The Golden Rule Store between 1910 and 1912. Mr. T. B. Sampson, who had been employed by the Kash Savin Stor in 1906, and his wife Fanny purchased the Golden Rule Store in 1927. Their son Paul joined the business in 1936, and Mr. Buckley Bruns came on board in 1974. The Sampsons believed in Prosser and in giving back to the community through their good deeds and civic leadership. After Paul's death, the Golden Rule closed its doors as a clothing store in 1996. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" was regarded as a fitting motto for the Golden Rule Store, this building, and the City of Prosser.
