Henry Cornelius Burnett, 1825-66, represented his district in the U.S. Congress from 1855-61. He presided at the Russellville Convention in Nov., 1861, which formed the Kentucky provisional government. He served as a member of the Confederate Congress from Kentucky from 1861-65. After the dispersal of the CSA government from Richmond, he sought a pardon from Pres. Andrew Johnson, and when it was received, charges of treason were dropped.
