The Commissary building stood here and served the community with groceries and everyday household supplies. Concrete piers once supported the loading platform and post office in the building. The Commissary was about 75 feet long, with a porch running along the entire front. Inside, the store also contained a first-aid room and an office for the mine superintendent. The picture was taken before the store was expanded to accommodate these additional uses.
