King and Queen Seat is a natural 190-foot rock outcrop overlooking Deer Creek Valley, towering above Deer Creek with a view of the rolling hills and farmland of Harford County. During the 17th Century, Susquehannock Native Americans living in three settlements along Deer Creek used King and Queen Seat at the Rocks for ceremonial gatherings. Bald Eagle, chief ruler of the tribes, and his wife sat on the formation while braves gathered on the rocks and ground below to listen to orators. According to legend, Bald Eagle and his wife also occupied these seats when they witnessed the marriage of their son, Bird-That-Flies-High, and the Iroquois maiden Fern-Shaken-By-The-Wind. In recent times, King and Queen Seat was a filming site for the family movie Tuck Everlasting, directed by Jay Russell in 2002 and starring Alexis Bledel, William Hurt, and Sissy Spacek.
