Saint Ignatius Church is the oldest Roman Catholic church in continuous use in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. It was completed in 1792 by Sylvester Boarman, S.J., while he was in charge of the nearby Jesuit Mansion of St. Joseph at Priest’s Ford. Early pastors of the church served Charles Carroll of Carrollton and his neighbors in the Chapel of Doughoregan Manor, Howard County. Saint Ignatius is the mother church of six others in Baltimore, Cecil, and Harford Counties.
