Castle Rocks
Nature
Castle Rocks is an extinct stratovolcano in Oregon’s Cascade Range, located east of Mount Jefferson, north of Green Ridge, northeast of Black Butte, and west of Madras. Its last eruptions occurred in the Miocene, marking it as an extinct volcanic center rather than an active peak. As part of the Cascade Range, it belongs to the region’s long volcanic history while standing today as a remnant of earlier geologic activity.
