Founded in 1902 by David and Rebecca Switzer as Woman's College and Conservatory of Music, Switzer College offered instruction in liberal arts, sciences, and music and had an average of 125 students. Its social activities included literary societies, lyceum courses, and receptions. The school moved to Dallas in 1912, and its plant was sold and dismantled in 1917.
