High Accuracy Geodetic Control Mark
Science & Tech
As part of the 2005 Century of Service celebration, Forest Service land surveyors established a national network of high accuracy survey markers. These survey markers serve as reference points for establishing precise geographic positions of nearby features such as roads, trails, utilities, and property corners. The precise position of the punch mark in the center of the brass disk, referenced to the WGS 84 ellipsoid, is 44° 26'08.03704 N latitude, 083°37'25.43194 W longitude, and 825.69 feet above sea level.
