Grace Church honors the Rev. Absalom Jones, the first African American priest ordained in the Episcopal Church, the Rt. Rev. John Melville Burgess, the first African American diocesan bishop in the Episcopal Church, and Allan Rohan Crite, an African American liturgical artist. Through their actions, contributions, and courage, these three Episcopalians opened eyes to the wholeness of God's love in the church. They are remembered at Grace Church with stained glass windows in the sanctuary and a mural in the children's chapel.
