More than 100,000 young men lived and worked in 125 Civilian Conservation Corps camps in Michigan as part of one of many nationwide programs that gave work to the unemployed during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Most Civilian Conservation Corps members lived in barracks like this reproduction, and their lives included how they lived, played, and worked while completing thousands of conservation projects to protect and create Michigan's forests, streams, and parks.
