Constructed beginning in 1881 as the Lehi First Ward Relief Society Hall and completed in 1883, this adobe building served as a gathering place for meetings and for displaying and selling homemade goods. Money for materials was raised through bake sales, bazaars, dinners, gleaning wheat, and selling Sunday eggs, and in the spring of 1883 Lehi mine owner John Beck provided funds to complete the building, while husbands of Relief Society members donated labor. Many spiritual outpourings were recorded here, and Eliza R. Snow, general president of the L.D.S. Relief Society, attended many meetings in the building and on one occasion interpreted the speaking of tongues. The hall also hosted Sunday School and Primary classes, weddings, anniversaries, and other social events, and it sponsored and centered Utah’s local silk industry. The Woman’s Suffrage Association of Lehi was organized here. Renovated in 1942 for use as a residence, the building’s exterior appearance was altered, but its original dimensions were not enlarged, and it remains one of the few surviving Relief Society halls.
