Bernardsville, New Jersey
· "The Orchard"
History
1
The Dunster Squibb House and its 3.9-acre parcel are all that remain of Oliver Dunster's 120-farm. This early 19th century farmhouse was enlarged and remodeled over time by pharmaceutical heir Charles F. Squibb, who lived at the adjoining estate known as Welwood. He transformed the farmhouse into an eclectic, Colonial Revival country lodge known as "The Orchard." After he was forced to sell Welwood in 1914, he moved to "The Orchard," and his descendants owned the property until 2008.
