Conger Mountain rises in western Utah in a largely undeveloped landscape about sixty miles west of Delta in Millard County, giving the area the character of a remote Great Basin setting. Its isolation makes it important wildlife habitat used by mule deer, antelope, and a herd of wild horses. The mountain is considered vital habitat for golden eagles, and bald eagles have been seen nearby. Other recorded wildlife includes ferruginous hawks, Swainson's hawks, mountain bluebirds, prairie falcons, kit foxes, badgers, and chukar. The roughly 20,400-acre area is managed as a Wilderness Study Area, preserving its relative isolation and leaving open possible future designation as a full Wilderness Area.
