North River Mountain
Nature
North River Mountain is a ridge in Hampshire County, West Virginia, trending southwest to northeast and named for the North River that runs along its western side for the ridge’s entire length. Its highest point rises to 2,149 feet near Delray. The ridge stretches from Staack's Gap at Rio to the Hiett Run gap at North River Mills. Although Hiett Run forms the physical divide, North River Mountain and Ice Mountain are geologically the same ridge, making this landform an important part of the county’s mountain landscape.
